Richard Plaskett - Executive Director, CEO, Owner
Mr. Richard Plaskett is the Owner and Executive Director of BreakAway Health. He has 17 years of experience in the field of Mental Health. Having gone through the BreakAway program as a patient in 1986, he became a volunteer Peer Counselor after his treatment graduation. In 1990, he was promoted to Case Manager and, in 1994, he was promoted to Program Director. From 1995 -1999, Mr. Plaskett served as Executive Director at several agencies' non-profit community-based homes. He became the owner of BreakAway Health Corporation in 1999. Mr. Plaskett holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Psychology and is a Certified Clinical Forensic Counselor. |

David Delmastro - Education Director, BreakAway Education Center
Mr. David Delmastro has worked in the chemical dependency and mental health field since 1976. He holds a Master of Science degree, Alcoholism Studies Program, University of Arizona. He has created alcohol / drug education programs for schools and juvenile courts.
Mr. Delmastro has developed and marketed adult and youth mental health and chemical dependency treatment programs for health systems throughout the United States. He was certificated to teach in 1971 by the state of Illinois. Following a successful business career, he returned to his most loved endeavor, teaching, and obtained professional certification in California in 2000. As a tenured teacher with the Orange County Department of Education, he has provided structured classroom and independent study for students at BreakAway Education Center since 2003."Know what is true, Seek what is good, Do what is right." |
Duane A. Durst - MFT
Mr. Duane Durst has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1999. He has worked in the field of Chemical Dependency and Recovery for over 20 years. He has worked in several capacities during this time and gained much experience as a private clinician, Program Director, and Clinical Director of recovery-based programs throughout Orange County. His focus is working with adolescents and their parents Mr. Durst received his Bachelors Degree from the University of Southern California in Psychology and His Masters Degree from The Professional School of PsychologicalStudies in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. He has studied Eastern and Western Religions for over 25 years and is able to utilize this knowledge in working with adolescents and their families. Mr. Durst also has been a keynote speaker for several organizations at forums, conferences and high school assemblies on the critical issues facing youth and their families today. |
Leslie Connelly - Program Director for Adolescents; Primary Adolescent Counselor
Ms. Leslie Connelly has been at BreakAway Health for 3-1/2 years. Her history in personal recovery includes 22 years with 12-Step. She previously worked at a Treatment and Transitional Living Facility. Ms. Connelly is a C.A.S. Certified Addiction Specialist."To see the world through the eyes of a child is truly magical." |
Ari Drosman - Counselor / Case Manager
Ari Drosman has been working at Breakaway for over a year and an half as a case manager and counselor. A former student of English and Philosophy, Ari is a certified Addictions Treatment counselor (CATC) and is currently pursuing an advanced degree in Psychology. Ari has been involved in recovery since 1999 and has been active in counseling for years working in different environments with varying populations. Ari states that the work he is doing is nothing short of his passion."Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of those that have come before you. Seek what they sought." |
Danny O'Dell - Counselor / Case Manager
Danny O'Dell has over 15 years personal experience with 12-step recovery work. He is currently a Registered Recovery Worker with CAADAC (California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors) and is working toward his CADC II.
